City of Fayetteville Development Permitting Process Review

The City of Fayetteville is conducting a review of its site plan and development permitting processes to improve clarity, coordination, and the customer experience. The City is evaluating how development applications move through multiple departments and agencies from initial project review through construction completion, identifying challenges and gathering stakeholder feedback to inform practical improvements.

The City of Fayetteville, NC (City) has retained BerryDunn (Berry, Dunn, McNeil & Parker, LLC) to assess the City’s development review process. For the purposes of this project, development review includes site plan review through the Technical Review Committee, building and related construction permitting, and construction inspections. This project focuses on assessing the City’s current procedures and identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen communication, improve overall customer experience, and align improvements with department and City goals.

As part of the evaluation of the existing process, the City is requesting feedback from external stakeholders. If you are a contractor, developer, architect, engineer, property owner, property manager, homeowner, or have another role in the development review process, please provide feedback on your experience with the City.
