Update to Homicide Investigation

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are investigating a shooting which occurred along the 700 block of Blue Street on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 10:50 pm which resulted in the death of one person.

Detectives have identified the decedent as Tony Itmus Chance (Black male, 46 years of age) of Fayetteville, NC. His next of kin has been notified.

This is an active investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Homicide Investigation

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are investigating a shooting which occurred along the 700 block of Blue Street on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 10:50 pm, which resulted in the death of one person.

Officers responded to the scene reference a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located one person suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving measures, the victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

The identity of the victim is currently being withheld pending next of kin notification.

This is an active investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
