Beer & Wine License
Beer and wine licenses are required for retailers of beer and/or wine. They are issued for the period of May 1 through April 30 and must be renewed no later than May 1 of each year.
Business Privilege License
Session Law 2014-3 eliminated the authority of municipalities to levy Privilege License Tax; therefore, the City of Fayetteville will discontinue charging a Privilege License Tax, effective July 1, 2015.
Solicitor & Peddler Permits
Section 15-16 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Fayetteville, North Carolina, regulates soliciting in private residences and on the streets and sidewalks in the city limits of Fayetteville.
- Solicitor Permit: A solicitor is a person who seeks subscriptions to publications and periodicals or sells goods or wares on behalf of a third party in a residential or commercial area.
- Peddler Permit: A peddler is a person who travels from place to place with an inventory of goods, who shall not remain in any one place for more than 12 hours or return to such location for the duration of the three-month permit, to sell the goods at retail and to deliver the identical goods.

Application fee: $25.00
Payment is due upon approval of the permit.
Three-month renewal fee: $5.00
Please renew permits on time to avoid undergoing the application process again. A permit may be renewed 3 times if renewed prior to expiration.
You will need to provide the following with the Solicitor and Peddler Permit Application:
- A copy of your fingerprints obtained from the sheriff’s department
- Two passport-size photos (2½” x 2½”)

Business Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Application and fingerprints will be reviewed by the Police Department and returned to the Finance Department within approximately 7 business days. There may be unforeseen circumstances that may prolong this process. We will contact you upon receipt of the application. A Solicitor’s Permit card or a Peddler’s (with vehicle or on foot) Permit card will be issued upon approval. Please return to the Finance Department to pick up your permit and pay your application fee.
