Cape Fear Mountain Bike Trail
The Cape Fear Mountain Bike Trail is a feature of the Cape Fear River Trail. Access is located 1 mile north of Clark Park traveling towards Methodist University, not far from the intersection with Eastwood Avenue. This meandering woodland trail is suitable for cyclists and hikers alike.
The Cape Fear Mountain Bike Trail was developed through the support of Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation, along with the efforts of dedicated volunteers and community members. The trail currently spans 13 miles.
If you are interested in volunteering for trail expansion and maintenance, leave your contact information with a park ranger.
Safety Recommendations
- Riders must wear helmets. It is very common to take a tumble on an off road course and safety is key to preventing injury. There are tight turns and constantly changing conditions which require vigilance and constant attention.
- Take caution at any intersection. Mountain bikers will need to yield to CFRT users.
- Avoid riding immediately after it rains, for safety, and to allow the trail to dry to prevent trail erosion.
- Maintain speeds that allow you to yield to pedestrians and that are within your abilities.
- Patrons are reminded to hydrate appropriately and bring bottled water. Water is provided by fountain only at Jordan Soccer Complex, Clark Park Nature Center (10am-4pm), and Riverside Dog Park.
