Update to Pedestrian Fatality – Detectives Seek Public’s Assistance- Age Correction

(Fayetteville, NC) The pedestrian has been identified as Kenyun Monte Johnson (Black male, 18 years of age) of Fayetteville, N.C. His next of kin has been notified.

This is an active investigation. There is no additional information to provide at this time.

 

Update to Pedestrian Fatality – Detectives Seek Public’s Assistance- Correction

(Fayetteville, NC) – The original media release disseminated on November 14, 2025, advised that 71st School Road between Wright Street and Media Drive was currently closed to traffic.

The correct street name is Wright Avenue. 

This is an active investigation. There is no additional information to provide at this time.

 

Update to Pedestrian Fatality – Detectives Seek Public’s Assistance

(Fayetteville, NC) – On November 14, 2025, at approximately 8:03 p.m., officers responded to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in the area of 71st School Road.

The Fayetteville Police Department Traffic Unit assumed the investigation. The pedestrian has been identified as Kenyun Monte Johnson (Black male, 19 years of age) of Fayetteville, N.C. His next of kin has been notified.

The initial investigation revealed Johnson was riding a mountain bike traveling south on 71st School Road, from Cliffdale Road towards Raeford Road when he was fatally struck by a black vehicle traveling in the same direction. The suspect vehicle fled from the scene of the crash.

Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance with locating the suspect vehicle in the photograph.

Pedestrian Fatality

(Fayetteville, NC) – On November 14, 2025, at approximately 8:03 p.m., officers responded to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in the area of 71st School Road. Medical personnel arrived and provided medical attention to the victim. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the motor vehicle fled the scene and currently has not been located.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld until next of kin is located and notified.

71st School Road between Wright Street and Media Drive is currently closed to traffic. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and utilize an alternate route. Additional information will be release as it becomes available.
