Update to Traffic Fatality-Road Closure

(Fayetteville, NC) – On March 11, 2026, at 9:18 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on King Road at Windfall Lane that resulted in a fatality.

The Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Unit assumed the investigation.

The initial investigation revealed a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado being operated by Dale Bradley White, (White male, 62 years of age) of Fayetteville, NC made a left turn into the path of a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle being operated by Daniel Zachery Vanherpen (White male, 38 years of age) of Hope Mills, NC. 

Mr. Vanherpen was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and succumbed to his injuries. 

Dale White was charged with Unsafe Movement Causing Serious Injury to a Motorcyclist and Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle. White is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $275,000 secure bond.

Traffic Fatality-Road Closure

(Fayetteville, NC) – Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Unit is actively investigating a traffic fatality involving a motorcyclist at the intersection of King Road and Windfall Lane.

On March 11, 2026, at 9:18 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle crash on King Road at Windfall Lane that resulted in a fatality. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until next of kin is notified.

King Road between Stoney Point Road and Mesquite Drive is closed to motorist.

Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
