41st Annual Crimestoppers BBQ
(Fayetteville, NC) – On Friday, April 25, 2025, the Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers Non-Profit Organization is hosting the 41st Annual Crimestoppers Benefit BBQ in the parking lot of Harris Teeter on Raeford Road, which is located at 2800 Raeford Road.
Volunteers will serve plates of delicious BBQ, coleslaw, potato salad, and a dinner roll between the hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. The plates are being sold for $10.00 each and volunteers are asking for a $1.00 donation for an ice-cold drink.
The BBQ fundraiser helps raise money, which funds the local Crimestoppers program. Crimestoppers pays cash rewards of up to $2,000 for anonymous tips that lead to the arrest of a suspect or suspects associated with an active investigation.
Volunteers will prepare an estimated 3,000 platters, which include approximately:
  • 1,400+ pounds of BBQ
  • 1,125 pounds of coleslaw
  • 1,125 pounds of potato salad
  • 3,000 dinner rolls
“Many people don’t realize our local Crimestoppers program is a registered nonprofit,” said Captain Shawn Strepay of the Fayetteville Police Department. “It’s run entirely by a volunteer board of 15 members, with no paid staff. This board maintains the program and raises funds to support cash rewards. Crimestoppers helps strengthen the partnership between law enforcement and the community, making crime prevention more effective.”
Since its inception, Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers has provided information resulting in the arrest of more than 3,200 felons, recovered more than $8.2 million in property and narcotics, and has paid out over $379,000.00 in rewards.
Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers is an award-winning Crimestoppers organization and was recently awarded the 2024 Productivity Award for a population of 300,000 – 400,000 by the Southeastern Crimestoppers Association (SECSA), which the program has been awarded numerous times in previous years.
Success is owed to the many citizens and businesses that have volunteered time and money to Crimestoppers. The Fayetteville Police Department provides a full-time investigator along with staff support to manage the program.
Crimestoppers is a proven method of solving crime and is instrumental in the recovery of millions of dollars’ worth of stolen property and narcotics. The success of the program depends on citizen support, either by donations or by providing anonymous information.
All media outlets are invited and encouraged to attend.
