FPD Summer Surge Initiative Addressing Violent Crime & Drug Trafficking
(Fayetteville, NC)- The Fayetteville Police Department participated in an initiative to address violent crime and drug trafficking in Fayetteville and surrounding areas with an emphasis on repeat offenders.
This initiative is a collaboration between the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Fayetteville Police Department (FPD), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office, the United States Marshals Service (USMS), the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), and the Hope Mills Police Department (HMPD). Law enforcement partners use coordination and intelligence-led policing to deploy resources to identify and remove individuals most responsible for violence and drug trafficking in our communities. The Fayetteville Police Department assigns Task Force Officers (TFOs) to several federal law enforcement agencies to work on joint investigations and operations. TFOs are "deputized" or cross-designated, granting them federal authority to enforce federal laws. This multi-agency approach leverages the combined resources of government to create a comprehensive plan to hold criminals accountable.
