Narcotics Investigation Leads to Arrests

(Fayetteville, NC) – On November 13, 2025, the Fayetteville Police Department’s Gang Unit and Narcotics Unit, with the assistance of the Fayetteville Police Department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, executed a search warrant along the 1500 block of Blan Street due to a narcotics investigation.

The execution of the search warrant resulted in the seizure of 195 grams of crack cocaine, $1,351.15 in U.S. currency, and a handgun.

Genevieve Butler (Black female, 31 years of age) of Fayetteville, N.C. was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Cocaine by Possession, Trafficking in Cocaine by Manufacture, Selling Cocaine, Conspiracy to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, and Maintaining a Dwelling for Purpose of Selling Controlled Substances.

Butler is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond.

Danny Lee Jones (Black male, 41 years of age) of Fayetteville, N.C. was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Cocaine by Possession, Trafficking in Cocaine by Manufacture, Selling Cocaine, Conspiracy to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, Maintaining a Dwelling for Purpose of Selling Controlled Substances and Possession of Firearm by a Felon.

Jones is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $150,000.00 secured bond.

In 2002, Jones was arrested in Fayetteville on cocaine and firearm charges. Those charges were dismissed in state court pursuant to federal indictments. In 2003, Jones was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison for Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. While serving this active imprisonment sentence, Jones pled guilty in the Eastern District of Kentucky to Inmate in Possession of a Prohibited Object-Shank and was sentenced for a term of 27 months to be served consecutively to the other sentence. Jones was released from federal custody in August 2011 for a period of supervised release. Jones violated his federal supervised release provisions resulting in imprisonment for 6 months in 2012. While in federal custody in 2012, the Fayetteville Police Department obtained warrants on Jones for two counts of 1st Degree Murder and 1st Degree Kidnapping. Jones pled guilty to two counts of Manslaughter and Possession of Firearm by Felon receiving a minimum sentence of 4 years 3 months and a maximum sentence of 6 years 2 months. Jones was released from state prison in 2017 for his period of post release supervision where he violated the terms of his post release supervision resulting in a three-month sentence. In May 2020, Jones was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter. In June 2020, Jones was arrested and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury and Habitual Assault. Jones has also been convicted of three counts of Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and Common Law Robbery.

The Fayetteville Police Department will continue our strategic partnerships with federal, local, and state agencies to hold habitual offenders accountable for the harm they cause our community.
