Homicide Investigation

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at approximately 3:17 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 2800 block of Gillespie Street in reference to a reported shooting.

Officers arrived on the scene and located an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel were summoned to the scene, and the victim was pronounced deceased. A suspect was detained by officers on the scene and remains detained as of the time of this release.

The name of the victim is currently being withheld pending next of kin notification. This was not a random incident. The decedent and suspect were known to each other prior to the shooting.

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
