Homicide Investigation Update
(Fayetteville, NC) – On Sunday, May 4, 2025, at approximately 10:22 a.m., Fayetteville Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting in the 600 block of Barton’s Landing Place.
The victim has been identified as Donte Maurice Vanclief (Black male, 36 years old) from Fayetteville, NC.
At this time, there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active, and all involved parties are cooperating.

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Sunday, May 4, 2025, at approximately 10:22 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 600 block of Barton’s Landing Place in reference to a shooting incident. On scene officers located a subject suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Medical personnel were called to the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital. The victim succumbed to the injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The name of the victim is currently being withheld due to the nature of the investigation and next of kin notification.
Detectives from the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
