Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers Program Recognized with Southeast Region 2024 Productivity Award
(Fayetteville, NC) – The Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers program is the recipient of the 2024 Productivity Award for an area with a population of 300,000 – 400,000. The award was recently presented to the Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers program by the Southeastern Crimestoppers Association (SECSA) during their annual training conference, which was held in Savannah, Georgia.
The productivity award is presented to a Crimestoppers program within the Southeastern United States region based on the total number of tips received, arrests made, charges laid, and cash rewards paid out.
Fayetteville Police Department Captain Shawn Strepay, a member on the SECSA board of directors, stated, “Receiving this award is not only a reflection on the Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers program, but the community as a whole. The success of Crimestoppers depends on citizen and community support, mainly by providing anonymous tips to Crimestoppers. The success of the program also relies heavily on law enforcement participation, as law enforcement agencies are responsible for following up on anonymous tips submitted to Crimestoppers.”
Citizens are encouraged to submit anonymous crime tips directly to Crimestoppers by visiting http://fay-nccrimestoppers.org, downloading the FREE “P3 Tips” App on a mobile device, or by calling the Crimestoppers 24/7 hotline at 910-483-TIPS (8477). Crimestoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous information leading to an arrest. Citizen involvement in Crimestoppers makes our community a safer place to live, work, and recreate.
Since inception in 1984, the Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers program has provided information to local law enforcement agencies resulting in over 6,665 arrests, seized more than $1.8 million in narcotics, and recovered over $6.4 million in stolen property.
Cash rewards are made possible by citizen, community, and business support, such as the Annual Crimestoppers BBQ Fundraiser. This year Crimestoppers is holding its 41st Annual BBQ on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm in the parking lot of Harris Teeter located at 2800 Raeford Road. BBQ plates are $10, and all funds raised go directly to the Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers Program.
