Police Captain Graduates from FBI National Academy

(Fayetteville, NC) – On December 11, 2025, Captain John Benazzi with the Fayetteville Police Department graduated from the 296th session of the FBI National Academy Program in Quantico, Virginia. The National Academy is by invitation only for Law Enforcement Officers from around the world. Less than half of 1% of law enforcement officers are selected to attend this training course.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy Program held at the FBI Academy offers eleven (11) weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agencies. During his time at the Academy, Captain Benazzi earned a “Yellow Brick” for completing a physically demanding 6.1-mile obstacle course at the end of the academy.

Training for the program is provided by the FBI Academy instructional staff, Special Agents, and other staff members holding advanced degrees, many of whom are recognized internationally in their fields of expertise.

Join us in congratulating Captain Benazzi on the successful completion of the FBI National Academy and the valuable information he brings back to the Fayetteville Police Department.

There is no additional information to be released.
