Swastika Suspect Arrested

(Fayetteville, NC) – Individual identified and arrested for spray painting swastikas along the 100 block of Reilly Road.

On May 2, 2026, at approximately 7:44 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 100 block of Reilly Road for reports of an individual spray-painting a swastika on the side of a building. During the investigation officers were made aware of a video circulating social media of a male suspect spray-painting other properties with a swastika.

Officers identified the suspect as Taquon Jameek Vereen (Black male, 18 years of age) of Fayetteville, N.C. and located him near the scene of the incident.

Taquon Vereen was taken into custody without incident. Vereen was arrested and charged with Damage to Real Property (2 counts), and Second-Degree Trespassing. Vereen is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $1500.00 secured bond. 

At this time there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public connected to these incidents.

The Fayetteville Police Department thanks the community for promptly reporting suspicious activity and providing information that assisted investigators. The cooperation and support from the public were instrumental in helping officers quickly identify and apprehend the suspect.
