Traffic Fatality
(Fayetteville, NC) – On April 24, 2026, at approximately 11:47 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash at Raeford Road and the I295 south entrance ramp that resulted in a fatality.
The Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Unit assumed the investigation.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2013 Dodge Charger operated by Tyronesha Shanae Sherlock-Benton (Black female, 36 years of age) of Fayetteville, N.C., was traveling at a high rate of speed east on Raeford Road and failed to negotiate the right turn onto the I295 south entrance ramp.
Tyronesha Sherlock-Benton was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her next of kin has been notified.
Mikayla Love Langhirt (Black female, 26 years of age) of Fayetteville, N.C., was a passenger in the Charger. Langhirt was transported to Cape Fear Valley and is in stable condition.
