Update to Homicide Investigation
(Fayetteville, NC) – On April 25, 2026, at approximately 2:44 a.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to reports of a shooting along the 600 block of Berwick Drive, which resulted in a death.
The victim has been identified as Kenneth Jamiel Gillis (Black male, 40 years of age) of Fayetteville, N.C. His next of kin has been notified.
This is an active investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Homicide Investigation
(Fayetteville, NC) – On April 25, 2026, at approximately 2:44 a.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to reports of a shooting along the 600 block of Berwick Drive, that resulted in a death.
Officers and Emergency Medical Service personnel arrived at the residence along the 600 block of Berwick Drive where one adult male was located inside of the residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Service personnel pronounced the adult male victim deceased on scene.
The Fayetteville Police Department's Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation.
This is an active investigation. This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
