Update to Homicide Investigation

(Fayetteville, NC)- On November 3, 2025, at approximately 5:17 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the report of shots being fired along the 200 block of Waterdown drive.

Officers arrived on scene located a male identified as Michael Whitfield (Black male, 58 years of age) of Fayetteville, N.C. suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Service personnel transported Whitfield to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injury. His next of kin has been notified.

Anyone with videos and or recordings regarding the shooting death of Michael Whitfield are urged to submit those recordings using the QR code below.

Homicide Investigation

(Fayetteville, NC)- On November 3, 2025, at approximately 5:17 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the report of shots being fired in the 200 block of Waterdown drive. On scene they located a subject suffering from a gunshot wound. Once medical personnel arrived at the scene the victim was transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to the injuries.  

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.
