FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - This week, City leadership attended the National League of Cities (NLC) Congressional City Conference in Washington D.C. to join other city delegations across the Nation to advocate for what’s important to their communities.

While participating in the conference, Mayor Colvin and City Council Members met with Fayetteville’s members of Congress and their staff, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and White House representatives to discuss Fayetteville’s federal priorities.

“Attending the NLC Congressional City Conference ensures Fayetteville has a seat at the table and a strong voice for our residents,” Mayor Mitch Colvin said.

Fayetteville’s key priorities:

  • Securing support for the City’s $26 million Choice Neighborhood Initiative grant
  • Advocacy for regional transportation initiatives, including expansion of air service, rail, transit, roadway and pedestrian infrastructure
  • Ensuring a high-quality community-based veteran and military support system
  • Providing sufficient mental health and community safety resources to meet needs
  • Supporting the expansion of public infrastructure that will support the City’s current and future growth

“We’re advocating for the needs that will keep our city moving forward, while also learning what funding opportunities are out there that we can bring back to support our community,” Mayor Colvin added.

The National League of Cities (NLC) is an organization comprised of city, town and village leaders that are focused on improving the quality of life for their current and future constituents.
