FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - City of Fayetteville administrative offices will be closed to the public tomorrow, Feb. 19 due to anticipated winter weather conditions. The city is actively preparing for the impact of expected wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. A winter weather advisory has been issued for the Fayetteville area starting tomorrow at 7 a.m. through 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20.

City street crews began applying brine to city-owned parking lots and bridges Monday morning and will continue treating roads through Wednesday afternoon, along with NCDOT. City crews will be on standby throughout the winter storm.

Updates/Changes to City Services for Wednesday, Feb 19:

  • City Hall will be closed to the public. Residents are encouraged to visit FayettevilleNC.gov for any services that can be completed online.
  • FAST services operations will begin on their regular schedule and conclude services at noon. Passengers are encouraged to plan accordingly. For route details, please visit RideFAST.net or download the TransLoc app.
  • Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation facilities and gated parks are closed.
  • Scheduled pickups for bulky items and large limbs will conclude at 11 a.m.
  • Passengers who are traveling with the Fayetteville Regional Airport are encouraged to contact their airline directly for any questions on travel and/or flight schedules.
  • The Fayetteville Cares Day Resource Center will be closed. The Salvation Army will open at noon for individuals experiencing homelessness.

City officials will continue to monitor the roads and provide updates as necessary.

Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads, if possible, and if not, be extra cautious while driving. Driving at posted speeds could be extremely dangerous when snow and ice are on the road. Many vehicles lose traction especially at higher speeds resulting in serious accident and vehicle rollovers.

For emergencies, including downed trees or powerlines on a road, residents are encouraged to call 911.

To receive notifications about severe weather, evacuations, and protective actions, residents should sign up for Cumberland Alerts.  The Cumberland Alerts notification system enables Cumberland County’s Emergency Services to provide critical information to residents throughout the county.
