FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The city of Fayetteville’s Solid Waste Division encourages residents to use available options for responsibly disposing of their old items as many residents purchase or receive new furniture, appliances and holiday decor as gifts this holiday season.
Key Reminders for Bulky Item Collection:
Residents are encouraged to explore donation or reuse options if the items are still in acceptable condition before placing old items at the curb. Many local charities accept gently used furniture, household goods or appliances. Electronic waste, hazardous materials, and certain large appliances (e.g. those containing freon) are not eligible for standard bulky collection. Please consult the Solid Waste “Special Waste Items” webpage or 910-433-1FAY (1329) for guidance.
“During the holiday season, it’s common for families to replace furniture, appliances, and decor,” said Daniel Edwards, Assistant Director of Public Services. “We encourage residents to take advantage of the City’s bulky collection service, while also considering donation and reuse options that keep items out of the landfill and support our community.”
