City seeks residents to serve on boards and commissions

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The City of Fayetteville is currently accepting applications from residents for the following boards and commissions:

  • Animal Control Board – 1 Vacancy
  • Community Public Safety Advisory Board – 1 Vacancy
  • Fair Housing Board – 2 Vacancies
  • Fayetteville Advisory Committee on Transit (FACT) – 3 Vacancies
  • Fayetteville City Planning Commission – 4 Vacancies
  • Fayetteville City Zoning Commission – 1 Vacancy
  • Fayetteville-Cumberland Economic Development Board – 1 Vacancy 
  • Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations Commissions – 5 Vacancies
  • Fayetteville NEXT Advisory Commission – 12 Vacancies
  • Fayetteville Public Works Commission – 1 Vacancy
  • Fayetteville Redevelopment Commission – 1 Vacancy
  • Historic Resources Commission – 1 Vacancy (required to be a Building/Land Use Design Professional)
  • Linear Park, Inc. – 1 Vacancy
  • Metropolitan Housing Authority – 2 Vacancies
  • NC Firefighter’s Relief Fund – 1 Vacancy
  • Stormwater Advisory Board – 2 Vacancies
  • Wrecker Review Board – 1 Vacancy

Boards and commissions are a great way for residents to engage in their community and continue to build a greater Fayetteville. Volunteers who are appointed to the boards and commissions by City Council serve as the link that connects residents to its governing body and serve as advisors who help shape the policies and programs of Fayetteville.

Applicants can apply now through July 31 at Fayettevillenc.gov/Boards.

Qualified applications will be presented to the Appointments Committee in August. City Council will then review and approve the recommended applicants at a regular meeting in September.
