City to host public meeting for new fire station

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Community members are invited to attend a community engagement session on Jan. 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Fayetteville-Cumberland State University Entrepreneur and Business HUB, 1073 Murchison Road, to discuss the construction of a new Fire Station #16.
Attendees will learn about the plans, be able to ask questions and provide feedback. Fire Station #16 is currently a single-engine company station housed in a temporary station leased to the City from Cape Fear Medical Center. This station covers the Cedar Creek community.
“As the east side of Fayetteville continues to urbanize and grow, it is important that we are positioned to manage the increase in requests for services,” Fayetteville Fire Chief Kevin Dove stated.
The new fire station will be located at the corner of Cedar Creek Road and Fields Road, which is more centralized in the response district than the current temporary facility.
“We are excited to bring a state-of-the-art fire station to this area that will not only serve as a staging area for emergency response but also serve as a cornerstone and hub of the community. It will have a community room and community playground available for community events and gatherings,” Dove added.
Attendees are encouraged to attend as the City prepares to move forward with the construction project.
