FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The City of Fayetteville invites the community to celebrate the ribbon cutting and grand opening of The Courts at Glenville Lake on Wednesday, June 3 at 10 a.m. at 730 Filter Plant Drive.
The Courts at Glenville Lake marks one of the remaining major projects completed through the voter-approved Parks and Recreation Bond Referendum and represents a major addition to the growing recreational opportunities in the City.
Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation’s newest facility is a 6,594-square-foot tennis center designed to serve players of all ages and skill levels through both recreational and competitive play.
The facility features 11 tennis courts, including a championship competition court, four pickleball courts, locker rooms, a lounge, learning space and pro shop.
“We are excited to officially open The Courts at Glenville Lake,” said City Manager Doug Hewett. “This is another great addition for the community and part of what’s becoming a growing hub for sports and recreation in Fayetteville. We’re looking forward to seeing residents using the courts, participating in programs and making the most of what it offers.”
The Courts at Glenville Lake was funded through the 2016 voter-approved Parks and Recreation Bond and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, representing a total investment of $13.4 million.
The tennis center will also offer regular programming and activities for the community throughout the year. Residents can learn more about parks and recreation programs at FCPR.us.
