Public Forum will now take place at Work Sessions
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Fayetteville City Council recently approved changes to a policy regarding when the public forum is held, expanding opportunities for residents to speak directly to the City Council about local issues and concerns.
Previously held on the second Monday of each month, the public forum will now be held during the Council’s Work Session on the first Monday of every month at 6:15 p.m., following announcements and recognitions. The public forum has also been extended from 30 minutes to one hour.
City Council also voted to change the Work Session start time to 3 p.m.
Residents who would like to participate can sign up beginning the day after the last public forum and no later than 5 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Sign-ups may be completed in person with the City Clerk at City Hall, 433 Hay Street, by phone at (910) 433-1992, by email at PublicComments@fayettevillenc.gov, or by using the online form at FayettevilleNC.gov/Clerk.
Those unable to attend in person may submit written comments by mail or email. Written comments will be summarized by the City Clerk during the meeting.
City Council holds Work Sessions once a month. These are informal working sessions where the Mayor and City Council Members discuss departmental agenda items and receive presentations.
The next Work Session is scheduled for March 2.
Work Sessions and Regular Council Meetings are open to the public and can be viewed live on Spectrum Channel 7 or streamed live at FayTV.net.
