Dogwood Festival & 4th Friday to close streets & parking downtown

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Residents, community members and visitors will gather this weekend, April 25 – 27 in Downtown Fayetteville for the annual Fayetteville Dogwood Festival and Fourth Friday event. Multiple streets and parking lots will be closed in the downtown area for the two events.
Closures began Wednesday with the Masonic Lodge parking lot and Mason Street near Ray Avenue. Festival Park Plaza parking lot will close Thursday evening.
The closures for the following streets will start taking place on Friday, April 25 at 4:30 p.m.:
- 100, 200, 300 and 400 blocks of Hay Street.
- Hay Street closed at Pittman Street.
- Maiden Lane closed at Burgess Street.
- Gillespie Street closed at the intersection of Otis Jones Parkway. Intersection to remain functional.
- Green Street closed at the intersection of Bow Street and Old Street. Intersection to remain functional.
- Maxwell Street closed from Hay Street to Franklin Street.
- Person Street closed at Bow Street and Otis Jones Parkway. Intersection to remain functional.
- Ray Avenue closed from Franklin Street to Rowan Street.
- Donald Street from Franklin Street to Hay Street.
Ray Avenue to reopen via Franklin Street for church attendees to access Old Street. It will close again at 11:45 a.m.
Once the street closures occur, no vehicles will be allowed within the festival footprint. Drivers in the downtown area should follow the signage directed traffic around the closures.
Downtown Parking in city lots and parking garages are available with the standard $5 parking fee for large events. On-Street parking is also available in the downtown area on weekends those parking spots are free to include downtown events.
Attendees should be aware that private parking lots are not owned by the city and will charge patrons their own rates across the downtown area.
Fayetteville Area System of Transit will have routes affected by the street closures. Routes 4 and 5 will run a detour April 25 - 27. Plan accordingly for alternative routes and allow for additional travel time to and from destinations. Updates to the schedule will be provided as they are made available. Businesses within the Festival footprint may not have anything set-up outside of the business unless a permit issued by the city of Fayetteville is held. Business owners or managers may not give permission to others to set-up anything outside of the storefront including signs, merchandise, giveaways, and/or musicians.
Various city departments will be setup at Festival Park Plaza participating during the festival and attendees are encouraged to stop by the departments rather that is to say hello or learn about different programs and services the city offers.
