FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.- Each Saturday of this month with the exception of March 29, Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) provided fare-free fixed route and paratransit services from 8 a.m. - noon to celebrate the launch of the United Way’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library Story Time Program.

To tackle literacy challenges from an early age, the Literacy Council launched the Imagination Library Story Time Program in partnership with Cumberland County and Fort Bragg Libraries.

This free weekly program, provided by United Way of Cumberland County and Cumberland County Libraries, allows families with young children to engage in opportunities to develop a love of books, reading, and storytelling.

Through the partnership between FAST and the United Way of Cumberland County, transportation barriers were removed, making it easier for families to attend.

The final day to take advantage of the fare-free service will be Saturday, March 22.

Although fares will be reinstated after Saturday, the United Way’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library Story Time Program will continue. The program is hosted at a different location each Saturday.

  • 1st Saturdays – Headquarters Library
  • 2nd Saturdays – Bordeaux Community Library
  • 3rd Saturdays – North Regional Library
  • 4th Saturdays – Cliffdale Regional Library

Residents can visit the United Way of Cumberland County’s website at Unitedway-cc.org.
