Fayetteville Fire Department participates in Smoke Alarm Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C - The Fayetteville Fire Department will take part in the statewide “Smoke Alarm Saturday” campaign on Saturday, June 6. Smoke Alarm Saturday is a one-day statewide smoke alarm canvassing event designed to raise awareness about the importance of having working smoke alarms in every home.

Firefighters from all City fire districts will canvass neighborhoods throughout Fayetteville, knocking on doors and engaging with residents in areas identified as having higher fire risk or higher call volumes. During the event, firefighters will provide fire safety information, check existing smoke alarms, and help ensure residents have the tools and resources needed to protect their homes and families.

“Smoke Alarm Saturday gives our firefighters the opportunity to meet residents where they are and bring life-saving fire safety information directly into our neighborhoods,” said Fayetteville Fire Chief Kevin Dove. “By focusing on high-risk and high-call-volume areas, we can help ensure residents have working smoke alarms, understand the importance of early detection, and have the resources they need to stay safe.”

The Fire Department installed 311 smoke alarms and 73 carbon monoxide alarms during the first quarter of this year.
