FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Fayetteville Fire Department, in partnership with Safe Kids North Carolina, will host a free Car Seat Safety Check Event on Thursday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at Target, located at 2056 Skibo Road.

Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on-site to inspect car seats, check installations and provide hands-on education to help parents and caregivers ensure children are riding safely.

A limited number of free car seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To receive a free car seat, the child must be present at the event.

"We want every child to have the safest ride possible," said Fayetteville Fire Department Chief Kevin Dove. "This event gives parents and caregivers an opportunity to have their car seats checked by certified technicians and receive valuable safety information that can help protect their children on the road."

Safe Kids North Carolina is led by NC Department of Insurance - Office of the State Fire Marshal, which provides dedicated and caring staff, operation support and other resources to assist in achieving our common goal: keeping your kids safe. Based on the needs of the community, this coalition implements evidence-based programs, such as car-seat checkups, safety workshops and sports clinics, that help parents and caregivers prevent childhood injuries.

Families are encouraged to stop by, ask questions and take advantage of this free safety resource.
