FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The city of Fayetteville announces the launch of the Late Night Youth Program, aimed at providing a safe and engaging environment for local youth. This initiative is designed to promote positive community engagement, divert youth from delinquency, and encourage personal growth through mentorship and structured activities.

The inaugural event will kick off on June 28, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Community Outreach Center located at 651 Country Club Drive. Activities will include basketball, board and card games, a video gaming room featuring an Xbox and a PlayStation system, mentoring sessions and group discussions. This event is for youth ages 12 to 17.

Youth that plan to attend must pre-register by Friday, June 27 at 1 p.m. at FayettevilleNC.gov/OCS

Food will also be provided. Fayetteville Police Department officers will be present for security, incident response and to foster community relations.

"This program captures our City’s Council’s desire for a proactive approach to community safety and youth engagement," said City Manager Douglas J. Hewett. "We believe providing structured and enjoyable alternatives during nighttime hours can build trust between youth and community mentors, as well as law enforcement."

A second session is scheduled for July 11, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the College Lakes Recreation Center. This evening will feature similar activities, alongside a special indoor hockey tournament hosted by the Fayetteville Marksmen team. City staff and nonprofit partners will facilitate this event, with opportunities for mentorship, group discussions and food.

The Late-Night Youth Program supports critical goals, including fostering positive relationships, personal growth and community trust through meaningful engagement.
