Mirror Lake Dam safety inspection scheduled for week of November 3

FAYETTEVILLE N.C. — The city of Fayetteville will be lowering the water level and conducting a routine safety inspection of Mirror Lake Dam located on Mirror Lake Drive in Fayetteville. 

To perform the inspection, the water level in Mirror Lake is scheduled to be lowered starting Monday, Nov. 3 depending on the weather. This is a normal and necessary part of the inspection process and is not a cause for concern. Residents may notice the lake level dropping slightly, but it will return to normal it’s normal level once the inspection is complete. 

The inspection, which is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 6, is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to keep local infrastructure safe and in good condition. Engineers will be checking the dam’s embankment, spillway and outlet to ensure everything is functioning properly and that the structure remains in good condition. 

There will be no traffic impacts on Mirror Lake Drive while the inspection is conducted. 

Routine inspections like this help ensure that Mirror Lake Dam continues to operate safely and efficiently for the community. The city of Fayetteville appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding while this important maintenance activity takes place.
