FAYETTEVILLE N.C. — Each year, the Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations (FCHR) Community Awards recognizes those who are committed to the well-being of others and spreading positive human relations throughout the City and Cumberland County. There are nine categories to nominate a resident or local organization: youth, individual, lifetime achievement, humanitarian, industry or business, educator, military, religious leader and organization. The nomination period has opened. Nominations must be submitted by Dec. 11.
Nomination forms can be found at FayettevilleNC.gov/HumanRelations.
“This is a moment we get to recognize and honor individuals and organizations who are making a lasting impact in our community,” Human Relations Director Yamile Nazar expressed. “Oftentimes, our community heroes work quietly in the shadows. This is the community’s way of letting them know, we see them, we value them and we appreciate the difference they’re making.”
Award winners will be celebrated at the Annual Community Recognition Awards Luncheon on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden, located at 536 N. Eastern Blvd. in Fayetteville. Tickets are on sale for $35, and can be purchased at the Human Relations Office located at 225 Ray Ave, Suite 100 in Fayetteville from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tickets can also be purchased online by visiting Fayetteville.idtplans.com/secure. To purchase tickets online, community members must register, select “HR Banquet Application/Donations” under the Public Services tab and then type “Human Relations” in the blank space.
Tickets must be purchased by Feb. 4, 2026. No tickets will be sold at the door.
The funds raised from the Community Awards will support the Human Relations Scholarships for high school seniors who aspire to attend higher education.
