FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A portion of Stamper Road is closed between Rogers Drive and Lyon Road due to storm-related damage beneath the roadway.
Heavy rainfall damaged the downstream embankment, headwall and culvert system. An initial inspection found that the culvert separated, creating a void beneath part of the northbound lane.
City crews are working with engineers to assess the damage and determine the repairs needed. The road will remain closed until repairs are completed and the area is safe for travel. A reopening date has not been set. Barricades are in place, and drivers should not attempt to enter the closed section.
Motorists should follow posted signs and use an alternate route. The City will share additional information as the repair plan and timeline are developed. Drivers can view current closures and detours on the City’s live Waze-powered traffic map at FayettevilleNC.gov/RoadClosures.
