Swearing in ceremony for Mayor and Council set for Dec. 1

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The city of Fayetteville will hold an inauguration ceremony for the recently elected Mayor and City Council at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1. The ceremony is open to the public and will take place at Fayetteville State University in the J.W. Seabrook Auditorium, 1200 Murchison Road.

The following individuals will be sworn in during the ceremony:

  • Mayor - Mitch Colvin
  • District 1 Council member – Stephon Ferguson
  • District 2 Council member – Malik Davis
  • District 3 Council member – Antonio Jones
  • District 4 Council member – D.J. Haire
  • District 5 Council member – Lynne Greene
  • District 6 Council member – Derrick Thompson
  • District 7 Council member – Brenda McNair
  • District 8 Council member – Shaun McMillan
  • District 9 Council member – Deno Hondros

Following the administration of the oaths of office, Mayor Colvin will call the City Council Organizational Meeting to order where the Council will vote on the next mayor pro tem.

The ceremony will be livestreamed on the City’s YouTube channel, Youtube.com/@CityOfFayettevilleNC.

A reception will follow at the Metropolitan Room, 109 Green Street, and will be open to the public.

The elected mayor and city council members will serve a term of two-years.
