Stronger Partners Initiative

Stronger nonprofits. Stronger connections. Stronger community.

Nonprofit organizations play an important role in strengthening Fayetteville and serving our community. But strong programs require strong organizations, and strong organizations require leaders who have the tools, relationships, and resources to move their missions forward.

The Stronger Partners Initiative is a nonprofit leadership and capacity-building initiative of the City of Fayetteville Economic & Community Development Department designed to support established nonprofit organizations serving Fayetteville.

Through practical learning, peer collaboration, hands-on application, and connections with community experts and institutional partners, Stronger Partners creates space for nonprofit leaders to step outside of the day-to-day work of running their organizations and think intentionally about what comes next.

The goal isn't simply to offer another series of trainings. Stronger Partners is about strengthening the people, organizations, and relationships behind the work happening throughout our community.

Who is Stronger Partners For?

Stronger Partners is designed for established nonprofit organizations serving the Fayetteville community that are ready to strengthen their leadership, organizational capacity, and connections.

Organizations must:

  • Be recognized as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code;
  • Have been in continuous operation for at least three years;
  • Have an established governing board that meets regularly in accordance with its adopted bylaws and provides oversight of the organization;
  • Employ a full-time or part-time Executive Director, or equivalent chief executive; and
  • Provide services that benefit residents of the City of Fayetteville.

Stronger Partners Roundtables

At the heart of Stronger Partners is a series of four Leadership Roundtables built around one central idea: the vision.

Where is your organization trying to go? What will it take to get there? Who needs to help lead the way? And who do you need alongside you?

Stronger Partners Roundtables aren't traditional trainings. Each brings nonprofit leaders together with community experts and one another for practical learning, facilitated discussion, intentional networking, and hands-on application.

Each Roundtable also includes a Leadership Lab, where participants take the conversation from concept to practice by applying what they've learned to their own organizations.

One Vision. Four Conversations.

Each Roundtable explores a different question, but together they form one intentional leadership journey.

Defining the Vision

Strategic Planning
What is the future we're trying to create?

Resourcing the Vision

Positioning for Investment
How do we secure the resources to achieve the vision?

Leading the Vision

Board Development
Who will help guide and sustain the vision?

Expanding the Vision

Networking for Nonprofit Leaders
Who can help us accomplish more together than we can alone?

Define it. Resource it. Lead it. Expand it.

Together, the four Roundtables challenge nonprofit leaders to define where their organizations are going, consider what it will take to get there, strengthen the leadership needed to sustain the work, and build the relationships that can expand what's possible.

By the end of the series, participants won't simply have attended four trainings. They'll have examined their organization from four different leadership perspectives while building relationships with other nonprofit leaders doing the same.
