Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified the victim and arrested a suspect in connection with the homicide, which occurred along the 2800 block of Gillespie Street on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

The victim has been identified as Janaha Smith (black female, 27 years of age), of Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The suspect has been identified as Shyheem McCall (black male, 24 years of age), of Fayetteville, North Carolina. McCall has been charged with First-Degree Murder. He is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
