Homicide Investigation Update
(Fayetteville, NC) – On Sunday, April 20, 2025, at approximately 3:19 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 6200 block of Yadkin Road in reference to a shooting.
The decedent has been identified as Jonathan Wells (Black male, 25 years of age), of Hope Mills, NC.
Detectives continue to investigate this homicide and encourage anyone with information to contact Detective Cross or Crimestoppers.

Homicide Investigation
(Fayetteville, NC) – On Sunday April 20, 2025, at approximately 3:19 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 6200 block of Yadkin Road in reference to a shooting. Once on the scene officers located a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Medical personnel were called to the scene where the victim was transported to a local hospital. The victim succumbed to the injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. One additional victim from the scene was transported to the hospital via a personal vehicle and is being treated for their injuries.
The names of both victims are currently being withheld due to the nature of the investigation and next of kin notification.
Detectives from the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
