Update to Homicide Detectives Seeking the Public’s Assistance
(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are seeking the public’s assistance into the shooting death of Tavon Donte Adams, (Black male, 28 years of age) of Fayetteville, N.C. that occurred on July 7, 2025, at approximately 2:02 a.m. along the 400 block of Slim Circle.
The investigation has revealed a gray 2007 Ford Focus with a clear coat on the roof that appears to be fading, with no hubcaps, dark tinted windows, and the gas tank cover is missing, was in the area during the time of the homicide.
Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance for any information on the vehicle, its occupants, and the shooting death of Tavon Adams.

Homicide Investigation
(Fayetteville, NC) – On Monday, July 7, 2025, at approximately 2:02 a.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a report of a subject shot in the 400 block of Slim Circle. On the scene, they located a male subject suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers began to perform life-saving measures, but the male succumbed to the injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene by arriving medical personnel. The victim has been identified as Tavon Donte Adams, a Black Male, 28 years of age. His next of kin has been notified.
This is an ongoing investigation, and more information will be released as it becomes available. The Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the incident. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective J. Phillips at (910) 322-7046
