Update to Homicide Investigation
(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are investigating a shooting that resulted in one person’s death along the 5000 block of Cliffdale Road.
The deceased has been identified as Xavier Jaquan Griffin (Black male, 34 years of age) of Fayetteville, N.C. His next of kin has been notified.
The preliminary investigation revealed an argument between unrelated parties led to a shooting that resulted in the death of Xavier Griffin and another male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. The identity of the victim suffering from the non-life-threatening gunshot wound is being withheld at this time pending safety considerations.
All parties directly involved have been identified.
This is an active investigation by detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit as they work to determine the circumstances of the fatal shooting. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Homicide Investigation
(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are investigating a shooting that resulted in one person’s death along the 5000 block of Cliffdale Road.
On December 14, 2025, at approximately 4:28 a.m. officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 5000 block of Cliffdale Road for reports of a shooting. Upon arriving on scene, officers located a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency Medical Service Personnel transported the victim to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment where he succumbed to his injury. The identity of the victim is being withheld until his next of kin is notified.
Officers were notified of a male arriving at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in a personal vehicle for medical treatment of a non-life-threating gunshot wound to the leg. It was determined this individual was related to the shooting that occurred along the 5000 block of Cliffdale Road.
This is an isolated incident. There is no danger to the public.
