City offices to close at noon due to severe weather

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – City offices, including Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation Centers will close at noon on March 16 due to inclement weather. The forecast predicts severe thunderstorms with heavy rain, strong winds and possible tornadoes. 

Updates/Changes to City Services for Monday, March 16: 

  • City Hall will be closed to the public at noon. Residents are encouraged to visit FayettevilleNC.gov for any services that can be completed online. 

  • FAST will conclude services at noon. Passengers are encouraged to plan accordingly. For route details, please visit RideFAST.net or download the TransLoc app. 

  • Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation facilities and gated parks will close at noon.  

  • Recycling and household waste will be collected on the regular schedule. However, if weather conditions become unsafe, collection may be delayed until the following day. Residents are encouraged to move their solid waste and recycling rollout carts away from the curbside after pickup.  

  • The Fayetteville Regional Airport Administration offices will close at noon. Passengers who are traveling with the Fayetteville Regional Airport are encouraged to contact their airline directly for any questions on travel and/or flight schedules.  

  • The Fayetteville Cares Day Resource Center will be closed at noon. The Salvation Army is open and will remain open for those who need shelter.  

For emergencies, including downed trees or powerlines on a road, residents are encouraged to call 911.

To receive notifications about severe weather, evacuations and protective actions, residents should sign up for Cumberland Alerts. The Cumberland Alerts notification system enables Cumberland County’s Emergency Services to provide critical information to residents throughout the county. Residents can sign up by visiting CumberlandCountyNC.gov/Alerts.
